The Global Humane Conservation Fund of Africa (GH-CFA) was formed to conserve, rehabilitate and protect Africa’s wildlife and wilderness areas, including flora, fauna, and the biosphere. We are committed to providing safe, secured spaces and well-managed habitats to Africa’s wildlife and are instrumental in a range of expansion initiatives across three critical areas in Africa.
Creating safe habitats for species by bolstering existing protected areas, establishing new reserves, and linking conservation landscapes through innovative biodiversity corridor projects form the major pillars of GH-CFA’s work.
We are therefore proud to announce that we have recently joined the Global Rewilding Alliance, a network of 160+ international organisations whose collective vision is a world where restored wild lands and seas provide a secure future for people, nature, and the planet.
The UN Biodiversity Conference set a global goal for 2030 to protect at least 30% of the planet’s land and seas, also known as 30 by 30. We will only achieve these goals as a collective of like-minded organisations, headed up by dynamic individuals who subscribe wholly to this vision. We found rewilding partners in the Global Rewilding Alliance.
Rewilding of land is a fundamental shift in our relationship with nature. It is a movement for the benefit of all life on earth, humans, animals, insects, and plants alike. By bringing back key animal species, ecosystems are regenerated and enhanced, which impacts positively on the resources earth provides we all depend upon to thrive, from the clean water we require, to the fresh air we breathe and the thriving landscapes upon which billions of people rely on for their livelihood.
Rewilding is not only crucial for the smooth operation of earth and all its inhabitants and habitats, but it is essential for human life on earth. Since 2021, the Global Rewilding Alliance partners have influenced the rewilding of more than 2 million square kilometres (1.24 million square miles) of land and sea in more than 120 countries around the world. We aim to greatly contribute to this as part of this alliance.
